NHL All Star Game Weekend

February 01, 2011 | Sergeant First Class Roslyn M. Robertson

This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend the NHL All Star Game.  Friday night we was out on the street doing a meet and greet with the public.  Even though it was alittle cold the number of people that came out was well over 9,000 we had a blast.  I guess when it comes to hockey alittle cold never hurt anyone.  There was several diffrent events going on for everyone of all ages, from the ice slide for the children to the free outdoor concerts for the adults.  The food vendors were everywhere and everything smelled so good, to bad I wasn't able to taste everything.

Saturday and Sunday we was inside the Raleigh Convention Center downtown.  Can you say WOW it was so many people lined  up outside waiting t get in.  It was a very nice set up with lots of space for the 12,000 people that was projected to come through.  Just like Friday night it was so many activities for everyone to to do, from doing some pull-ups to showing their skills with a hockey stick.  The music and live entertainment was very up beat and exciting.  We were honored to have a couple of the mascots take on the pull-up bar.  On Sunday Team Lidstrom beat Team Staal 11-10.  Very exciting weekend.  I loved it.
