Mangement Course

September 25, 2011 | Lieutenant Colonel Kendall Mower

As with many jobs in the Army, there is a natural progression towards leadership roles throughout your career.  To help prepare for this, the Dental Corps offers a Dental Management Development Course for both Sergeants and Officers that will be in charge of dental clinics.  This past week the course was offered in San Antonio at a hotel near the Alamo.

This is a monument that sits just outside the walls of the Alamo

The course was a great one, and I walked away with about a dozen pages of notes and things to do (don't worry it was on smaller hotel-size stationary).

We had several of our  dental Colonels and NCOs from the AMEDD Center and School speak to us throughout the week.

The course was very comprehensive and covered not only clinic management, but also let us know about changes going on at the AMEDD school and Ft. Sam Houston as part of the consolidation of training programs with the Navy and Air Force.

We also got a look at and trial of the new Army physical fitness program that will be adopted in the near future.

I thought the course was very well done, and look forward to implementing some of the new lessons learned!
