The secret power of Soldiers during Deployment-SUPERHERO'S

April 17, 2011 | Staff Sergeant Christopher Lenington

Ok well there is a significant change of a person during his deployment overseas, and it is for the good of the person and unit.  When you first arrive overseas, start working, and get into the grind of things a person changes to a new person, you turn into a superhero. A person can do PT in the morning, and work his butt off during that PT session, then turn and go out for a Patrol or do a mission that will carry him up a mountain or around the country fighting the enemy. Then come home that evening and finish whatever work that person has or being told to complete, well the night is not over then that person has the energy to take a shower, watch a movie, and talk to friends. Then that same person wakes up the next morning and does it all again, even at some point that day is even harder and longer than the day before but he or she keeps going.  These soldiers turn into Superheroes to the regular person, and that is what I believe to be the human spirit working for their buddies, keeping each other going to come home for their families.  No matter what job you may be doing overseas, whatever service you are in, it is truly amazing how things get done and people still have time to do the small things in those days, its a true show of how a regular joe or jane can turn into the biggest Superhero, a true strength that everyone has they just don't know it.  Again Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, Airmen, and Coast Guardsmen, thank you for watching my back, and I will keep watching your back.
